Word Vomit
Of the past, present and being a baby

The consultant came in late today, so, the three of us (myself, Kieth and the reg) just hung about by big bay window, beside Lupin’s ward. Somehow, the conversation steered towards facebook and now, they know I have an account and they wanted to add me… Strange. Mishra MJ, I told them. “MJ? Michael Jackson? ahahahahahah!!” and then we talked about MJ.

With guys, they started making little football teams on my piece of paper with the patients’ list. Ballack, the twins, Lampard, a Korean guy etc. I have no idea who they are, except maybe Ballack because I overheard my brothers or someone from the XY species talking about him.

“Hey Mishra, who do you support?”

Err.. I don’t know any of em.

“What?! Kieth, go on, open the window and chuck her out”

Ah, but I do know Man U! David Beckham? Eh, no, he’s gone, right…?

They’re fun, the guys. They like to high five whenever one of them say something witty. And also poke each other, blow up latex gloves and make them into toy guns, “Bang! Bang!”. Just like kids, sometimes XD Reminds me of Paul and Tom, the guys I did attachment with in Roscmn last year :D

Been thinking about those student days. heheh.. And I found some pictures here, most taken with the old 2mp sonyE phone.

In the lecture hall... busy, stressed, flipping books, or pretending…

In Letterkenny, during clinics and it was snowing outside and we were wishing that clinics would end early so that we’d be able to play outside (or go to TkMaxx)

For Maire, our surgical tutor, the most tom boy-ish tutor we’ve had. She’s in Africa now. “Roses are red, violets are blue. Surgery seems less bad, with a tutor like you!!”

During general surgery tele-conferencing (such a word?) with Castlebar Hosp. We were there for the free food and to watch Mr E pick his nose.

During Mr T’s tutorial. This is David, pretending to be busy when in fact, he is doodling.

My fake lips… that Avon phase..

Tired out. Asleep in the final med reading room. Wake up to an elaborate pattern of the purple muffler on the forehead.

Dawn. Going to the hospital? Or to town? Can’t remember

From my window…

And still, from my window :)

And a good luck card for final exams, a painting of a robin, my butterfly hair thingy, the lamb, the turtle and my 007 swatch with laser beams.

John, another SHO from another team reminded me that if I ever need help, just call him. “Go on, go back home… no one will bleep you at this time” when it was only 4pm. I should have gone home since I’m just across the hospital and my bleep will still work there. But it seems wrong to go back. So, I stayed, while John shook his head.

Louise bought a chocolate twist for me. She also offered me a ride back to Galway, but I couldn’t wait till Saturday, I told her :D She’s like a big sister here. But you’re still the best, Klong XD

So this is how the baby of the family feels when people fuss about… Feeling a bit smothered, but I bet this is just for the first month. After that, I’ll just be another face here :D

“That’s why Roscmn is the best!” said Kieth

Liking this place.

Should I go back again this weekend? Hmmm… I asked around, and there is no secondhand bookshop here. They only have a small Easons (and books there are not cheap). No one will be in Galway though.. CQ will be oncall, Shark will be visiting her sister in UK. The others are scattered around this island, too far away to come back. I think I’m the only one crazy enough to travel on two buses, just to spend a day in Galway.

Maybe I should give this small town a chance and explore it a bit. If only my explorer self will come out again…

Am I like Mr Happy from Mr Men/ a manic patient/ hypomanic?

This is a jumbled up kind of entry. From the past and present. This one will last for a week. You can see how I have quite some time on my hands eh. All will change starting next week, when a few of the docs will be on leave and workload will increase. Hope it will be OK :)
