Despite the sobbing and tears eh no.. the doctor who makes me want to utter horrible curses hard work, there are little things that puts a grin on my face.
Sunny Days and walking down the stairs from the docs res to the A&E and seeing the small field next to the hospital. Sometimes, there will be a few people playing there. Yeah, Sunny Days are nice, except if it’s on a Thursday (today) because the sun brings out everyone (young, old, sick or not) and the clinic will be filled to bursting point and I will only finish work very, very late.

Those I look after… “Thank you very much for what you did” I didn’t even do anything. I just went and examined him, asked a few questions and asked the nurse to give him analgesic. But just seeing him smile with his wife beside him and in no pain… ^_^
OK, so, I just can’t phase out my ‘other life’.

“Here, have a gummy. To keep the energy up” The nurses in clinics, when seeing me rushing after the patients.
“Oh, are you Dr McEvoy’s intern? Well, can you review this xray… owh, you’re not on-call? OK, I won’t get you to see it. You have enough to do anyway. I’ll ask the on-call doctor” WOOT! yay! It was way past my working time anyway and I still had a whole bunch of things to do.
“You’re very colourful today! Love the scarf!” hahaha.. I always get that from the little old ladies and gentlemen. Gotta love those who are not aggressive/agitated/pissed off. “The girl with the lilac scarf”
Me: You’re back again! “Ah, I just wanted to see you again!” *cheeky grin* There are the mischievious ones too.
Those who let me poke holes in their arms, trying to get a line in. Those who smile and say it’s ok.
I also get this feeling of accomplishment whenever I manage to cannulate someone… when the first flash of dark red blood shows up in the clear plastic, ah, success! I know others would simply pooh-pooh at this, but it’s just one of those tiny things that make life easier if the first try is successful. I know I’m no phlebotomist :)

eek! I only just realized that I do not have full immunity to chicken pox and I’ve been examining this gentleman who I suspected has shingles and it turned out that he does have shingles. I hope I won’t burst out in itchy bumps…
